The Azrieli Foundation supports music programs with a primary focus on granting support for emerging artists.
Following the triumphant inaugural launch of the Azrieli Music Prizes in 2014, the Azrieli Foundation is again searching for composers to receive two substantial prizes:
- The Azrieli Commissions for Jewish Music – $50,000 CAD to a Canadian composer for a new orchestral work. Submission deadline: May 7, 2017.
- The Azrieli Prize for Jewish Music – $50,000 CAD to an international composer for the best orchestral work written in the last ten years. Submission deadline: November 5, 2017.
In addition to the cash prize, both works will be performed by a major Canadian orchestra at a Gala Event in the fall of 2018 and will receive a commercial quality recording.
Joseph-Rouleau Career Development Grant
The Azrieli Foundation is funding this prize for the next three years through the Concours musical international de Montréal (CMIM). Awarded for piano in 2017, voice in 2018, and violin in 2019, this career development grant has been created to honour internationally-renowned bass Joseph Rouleau, co-founder of the CMIM, for his devotion and contribution to music in Québec and Canada, and for never ceasing to encourage musical careers.
McGill Chamber Orchestra
The McGill Chamber Orchestra is one of Canada’s most recognized chamber orchestras, founded in 1939 by Alexander Brott and now run by Conductor Boris Brott. The Foundation has a long history of general support of the orchestra and specifically for the Alexander Brott Memorial Concert.
